Creating a skin care routine you can stick with is a problem that regularly trips people up.
This is usually because people try to get super complicated and fancy with their skin care routine.
Additionally, people assume that in order to have a daily skin care routine that works, they will need to buy super expensive products.
Let’s shatter those myths.
- Your daily skin care routine does not have to be complicated.
- The products you use for your daily skin care routine don’t have to be expensive.
In this post, we will go over a simple daily skin care routine you can adopt. If you have failed at skin care routines before, we are positive this is one you can stick with.
The simple 3-step no-fail daily skin care routine
The first thing you want to do when you wake up in the morning is to clean your skin. To clean your face, use a facial cleanser that agrees with your skin.
If you experience itching, dry skin or any other untoward effects after using a particular cleanser, stop using it immediately.
We highly recommend the Skinceuticals line of facial cleansers for cleaning your face daily. You will find this in our online store or you can ask us about it when you visit our office.
Cleaning your face gets rid of a lot of the natural oils that allow your face/skin to stay moisturized.
This is why your face feels dry after you wash it.
Moisturizing your face helps to lock in your skin’s natural moisture so you don’t experience dryness and cracking of the skin.
Not only is dryness unsightly, it also leads to wrinkles and skin damage.
Thus the next step here is to use a moisturising lotion to lock in the freshness you just experienced from cleaning your face.
The third step in this very simple skin care routine is to protect your skin.
Ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun easily damage the DNA in your skin cells which leads to all kinds of problems including skin cancer.
Thus, it is always a good idea to protect your skin by using a skin protectant that contains SPF.
SPF (sun protection factor) prevents the UV rays from damaging your skin. Dermatologists typically recommend that you use sunscreen that contains an SPF of 15.
Over time, and especially if you spend most of your day outside, the SPF wears off.
Thus, it is advisable to apply a fresh coat of sunscreen every two hours to get the best protection.
At the very minimum, if you are performing these three steps on a daily basis, you will enjoy healthy, glowing skin for years to come.
